Whiplash Claim - Car accident - Not my fault?

I have a quick question. Yesterday evening whilst sitting at red lights a mini bus went into the back of my car which has resulted in a not so pretty mini but worse than that I am suffering what I think is whiplash. My neck and arm are very sore, hard to turn my head and banging headache, not nice! The other driver is totally at fault for the accident, which our insurance companies are sorting out at the moment. I called my company to explain and they are dealing with it etc. I was asked if any injuries, I said no ambulance or anything to that extent but I am in pain. I have a doctors appt on Thurs but am considering going to A&E tonight as seems to be getting worse. If I want to put in claim for whiplash (I am expecting to be off work for a bit and I dont get sick pay) how do I do this? Do I call my insurance company and tell them I have doctors/hospital etc.? Never been involved in anything like this before so not sure what to do. I am in the UK. Thanks.

Yes you will need to inform your insurance company, you will then need to send off paperwork from your doctor/hospital saying that they believe it is whiplash. This will then become a personal injury claim and if successful, your compensation will be claimed from the third party’s insurance company.
