Did you receive proper training for lifting heavy fixtures?
If you did then you don’t have a leg to stand on. If you didn’t then you have a case. Did they put the injury in the accident book and did you sign it?

As for the lack of pay - you should have received sick pay for at least some of the time off, but this does depend on when you hurt yourself. If you work mon-fri and the accident occurred on fri, the company don’t have to pay you for the 1st 3 days, they are classed as waiting days - therefore mon,tue,wed are unpaid but thurs and fri should be paid SSP. Did you supply your company with a sick note?
If you didn’t then you recieve no sick pay, its just classed as time off without pay.

Speak to a solicitor I am sure you are entitled to some form of compensation.
